Before using a Danish lead list, remove everyone you may not contact: people without valid consent (unless the product is exempt), people on the Robinson list, people who opted out with you, and protected companies. Do it right before use and keep the record.
Before using a Danish lead list, remove everyone you may not contact: people without valid consent (unless the product is exempt), people on the Robinson list, people who opted out with you, and protected companies. Do it right before use, not when the list was bought, and keep the record.
Step 1: Check the consent
Unless you're selling books, newspaper or magazine subscriptions, insurance, or rescue or patient transport subscriptions, every Danish consumer you call must have asked to be called. See Calling Danish consumers: the rules in 2026.
For each lead, can you answer yes?
- Does the consent text name your company, not just "partners"?
- Does it mention the phone, and your products?
- Can you see when and how it was given?
- Is it less than a year old, or used within the last year? The Consumer Ombudsman says unused consent probably lapses after one year (guidance).
If you bought the leads, you're still responsible. In July 2026 the Consumer Ombudsman reported a Danish electricity company to the police for calls based on consents bought from partners, holding the caller responsible for their validity (source). In an earlier review of six lead companies, consents from competitions where prizes weren't drawn as promised were found invalid (source).
No automated tool can judge your consent records for you. This step is yours.
Step 2: Check the Robinson list
For exempt products and addressed mail, anyone on the Robinson list must be removed unless they asked you to contact them (Marketing Practices Act s. 10(4)-(5)).
For consent-based calls, flag people on the list anyway. They have opted out of marketing in general, so if a complaint comes, it's likely to come from them. Some callers simply leave them out.
The Robinson list holds names and addresses, not phone numbers. Leads with only a name, email and mobile number can't be checked. Ask your supplier for addresses, or collect them at sign-up.
Step 3: Remove your own opt-outs
Anyone who told you they don't want calls must not be called again, Robinson list or not (section 10(4), no. 1). Keep a suppression list by phone number and name, and run every new list against it.
Step 4: Check companies
- Sole traders run from home can be on the Robinson list. Check them as people.
- Other companies may have advertising protection in the CVR register. See Danish company ad protection (CVR).
Step 5: Keep the record
For each list: when it was cleaned, against which edition of the Robinson list, how many rows, how many removed, and the consent records. See Check receipt.
What can be automated
| Step | Automatable | Who |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Consent | Partly, if consent data is structured | You and your supplier |
| 2. Robinson list | Yes | Robinsontjek |
| 3. Own opt-outs | Yes, in your dialer or CRM | You |
| 4. Companies | Available as an add-on by agreement | Robinsontjek |
| 5. Record | Yes, for step 2 | Robinsontjek |
Watch the Danish addresses
Lead data from forms is messy: missing floors, misspelt streets, Danish letters replaced. A check that can't find a person must not answer "not on the list". At Robinsontjek, if an address can't be read or found, the row says so. Such a row gets no level and is never included in the file of rows below your level.
Questions and answers
How fresh does a check need to be?
Check right before use. The Robinson list is republished every quarter, so a check from the previous quarter may be out of date.
Can the lead supplier do the check for us?
They can, and good suppliers will. Ask for the date, the list edition and a check receipt. If they can't give you that, check it yourselves.
What if a lead says they never consented?
Stop calling them, add them to your suppression list, and look up the consent record. If you can't show when and how they consented, treat the consent as invalid.
